Diving Into Inquiry
LIBE 477/ /Assignment 1// Part A
There are a few interests, opportunities, and even issues I anticipate will arise in the near future. Mirroring the Covid 19 school shut down we experienced in the spring, I anticipate that technology may once again become our main mode of lesson delivery or if schools remain open, I see technology becoming more readily used in the classroom setting as teachers feel more confident using it (having been forced to use it in the spring). This shaped my practice because, as a more tech-savvy staff member at my school, I became a hybrid of chief online lesson designer, 24/7 tech support, and pro-d facilitator as I taught teachers how to teach online. Although that propelled my confidence, since we are back in brick-and-mortar classrooms, not all the skills I developed are applicable.
In my current practice as a Teacher Librarian, I would like to
widen my practice to include more areas of expertise then I currently boast. I
have just entered my third year as a TL and have honed a few areas where I have
concentrated my instruction. Now that I have the logistics of transitioning
from a classroom teacher to a TL behind me, I would like to explore topics such
as collaborative publishing, personal learning networks, and video publishing.
The theme or key words that come out of any of these interests are “community”,
“collaboration”, “visual”, “connected”, “collective learning”, “creation” . Each
of these three requires digital technologies and knowledge of digital media. I am
drawn to collaborative publishing and PLNs because of the interpersonal nature
of them. My favourite discoveries are the ones I made with other people. My
favourite projects are the ones I have created with other people. Each of these
topics are interests that I know very, very little about so in that way there
is only room for growth.
As a life-long learner, I enjoy using digital media to find answers
and learn new skills. From the basic “ask siri” to learning how to fix my
dishwasher using YouTube videos, the wealth of knowledge available through
digital media has served me very well. I am excited to dive in and start this inquiry!
This is a good first post. I appreciate your narrative structure and personal connections. You have identified some strong keywords for future research. For your next post, you may want to consider adding some multimedia elements (hyperlinks, images, video). These add another layer to your post and enhance the reading experience for your audience.
